The Monolith Rosé

The Monolith Rosé is a unique blend that is refermented on cherry and raspberry pomace. The cherries and raspberries are first used in another blend, but still with lots to give, they get a second use in this Blend of 1, 2, 3 & 4 year Mixed Fermentation barrels. The pomace imparts subtle and refined cherry and raspberry character with emphasis on the soft tannins and nutty seed flavours. The result is a blend with round structured acidity and beautifully balanced bright fruit character reminiscent of Rosé wines.

Wheated Meadows

10.7% ABV

Wheated Meadows is a unique single-barrel release made in a barrel of Weller Full Proof Wheated Bourbon. Our base Meadows dark lager with honey and bee pollen was first finished in stainless steel then put into this special barrel for 11 months. The result is beer with smooth dark chocolate notes and surprising drinkability for 10.7% ABV. We got this barrel from some pals that will share in the fruits of our labours.

Yukon Meadows (Peated) 2023

2023 Yukon Meadows (Peated) was made using Two Brewers Whisky barrels which we secured thanks to our Market head brewer’s history in the Yukon. The base beer is the same recipe across all Meadows releases. The Whisky from these barrels was well-balanced and moderately peated. The peat in this beer is prominent, but not overpowering; it melds delightfully with the warming alcohol and rich roasty malt. We hope you like it.

Buffalo Meadows 2023

2023 Buffalo Meadows is a dark lager that was cool-fermented in stainless steel with Alberta blossom honey and bee pollen from Meadow-Sweet Apiaries. The base beer is the same recipe across all Meadows releases. It was then aged for 11 months in fresh Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels. The techniques and ingredients give this beer dark fruit notes, and complex salinity, with a warming finish.

Dry Hop Series: Galaxy & Saaz

This is the fifth release in the Dry Hop Series and the first that is 100% Spontaneous Fermentation. This blend of 1, 2, 3 and 4 year Spontaneous Fermentation barrels is dry hopped with a unique blend of hops from drastically different regions: Australian Galaxy and Czech Saaz. This hop blend brings a fun balance of tropical fruit, ripe juiciness, floral, spice, and herbaceous complexity. These flavours complement the depth of the spontaneous beer and the bright citric acidity.

Homage to the Old Ones

Homage to the Old Ones is a very special blend of 4 year Spontaneous Fermentation barrels. Historically brewers would take the brewery’s highest quality barrels to make a blend that would showcase their best product. When scavenging our barrel cellars, the brewers came across barrels that were of such exemplary quality, they knew it would be a perfect homage to such blends. The use of only 4 year barrels highlights the depth and complexity that can be developed when time and attention is given. The result is a blend that has balance and poise in its acidity & texture, deep wine, leather, & tobacco flavours, and a complex range of fruit & floral aromatics. We hope you like it!

Fruitful Pursuits: Riesling 2022

Fruitful Pursuits Riesling 2022 is a Spontaneous Fermentation blend refermented on Riesling grapes. We used hundreds of kilograms of the highest quality wine grapes grown by Nathan Goltz in the Similkameen Valley and supplied by Steve & Dan’s Fresh BC Fruit. The blend of 1, 2 & 3 year barrels spent 2 months refermenting with the crushed fruit and skins. This hybrid of beer and wine showcases the complexity of Spontaneous Fermentation, while the grapes bring citrus, apple, light pepper & floral flavours, highlighted by wine-like acidity, round texture, and subtle tannin.

Fruitful Pursuits: Quince 2022

Fruitful Pursuits Quince 2022 is a blend of Mixed & Spontaneous Fermentation barrels refermented on quince. This unique fruit was suggested to us by Steve & Dan’s Fresh BC Fruit and has become a favourite. The blend of 1, 2, & 3 year barrels refermented for 2 months with hundreds of kilograms of ripe quince. The fruit adds punchy floral, honey, and pear-like flavour and aroma . It brings exceptional texture with a full and velvety tannin structure that coats the palate, complimented by the poppy acidity and ester fruitiness of the blend. We hope you like it!

Fruitful Pursuits Plum is a Mixed Fermentation blend refermented on freshly picked plums. For 2022 we used hundreds of kilograms of Damson and President plums grown in the Okanagan and supplied by our good friends Steve & Dan’s Fresh BC Fruit. The blend of 1, 2 & 3 year barrels referments on the fruit for 2 months resulting in robust plum flavours, subtle baking spice notes, and a beautiful rose colour. This is highlighted by a balanced tart acidity and velvety plum skin tannins. We hope you like it!

Mon Chester

Mon Chester is a Mixed Fermentation blend featuring the unique characteristics of Sicilian red wine barrels. The beer is fermented in these incredibly flavourful barrels for 24 months which imparts a huge amount of the bright fruity flavours from these warm weather Sicilian red wines. These flavours caught the attention of our good friend Tom Chester so much that we named the beer after him. The result is a beer with bombastic raspberry fruitiness, juicy citrus, rose water aromatics, and candy like intensity. These flavours are highlighted by a bright, tart acidity and fleeting dry finish.

1, 2 & 3 Year Spontaneous Fermentation Blend — Spontaneous Manifesto marks a milestone as The Monolith’s inaugural 100% Spontaneous Fermentation release. Made using historical methods developed in Belgium over generations, this blend of 1, 2 & 3 year barrels is our quintessential Spontaneous Fermentation blend. The result of these techniques is a unique product shaped by our local environment and indigenous microflora. It showcases classic stone fruit, apple and citric flavours and aromas with some bright red wine fruitiness, and subtle tannin, highlighted by a balanced acidity.
