Greg Zeschuk is the primary enthusiast behind the Blind Enthusiasm Brewing Company. Greg was born in Edmonton, trained and practiced as a family physician, formed the internationally renowned videogame developer BioWare, and sold the company to Electronic Arts where he worked for 5 more years before leaving the industry in 2012.
After videogames Greg devoted himself to beer and started a web series called The Beer Diaries, became the first Executive Director of the newly formed Alberta Small Brewers Association and is a Certified BJCP judge. He will be helping to run the overall operations of the business while operating as a trainee-brewer.
Doug is another Edmonton native with a deep passion for beer. Doug started working at Craft Beer Market in Calgary, was a trainee brewer at Brew Brothers Brewery, and continued his brewing training at the Olds College Brewmaster and Brewery Operations program. He went on to be one of the brewers and lab techs at la Trou du Diable in Shawinigan, Quebec.
Along the way Doug developed a deep passion for Lambic and barrel-aged sour beer and has devoted himself to exploring and learning the techniques used in the creation of these beers. To further this exploration he traveled to Belgium to spend the 2016 brewing season at Cantillion learning traditional Lambic methods. This was followed by a short stint at Brasserie de la Senne before returning to start at Blind Enthusiasm. Doug is the Sour Brewer and Cellar Manager for Blind Enthusiasm.

Rob Monk started his brewing career 16 years ago in his hometown of Whitehorse after joining Yukon Brewing in 2000. He spent a couple years working at Yukon and then moved to the historic Spinnakers Brewpub in Victoria, BC. Over the next five years Rob worked his way up to head brewer, learning the dark arts of proper cask conditioning as well as running the brewing program at Spinnakers.
In 2010 Rob returned to Yukon to serve as head brewer and he spent the next six years running Yukon’s brewing and cellaring operations. During the course of his career Rob has brewed many beers, and explored many styles. He brings this wealth of experience to Blind Enthusiasm in his role as head brewer at our brewpub.
We’re building our brewery in Edmonton, our hometown and one of the fastest growing cities in Canada. The craft beer wave has hit Edmonton hard at the import level, but we only have a handful of local breweries. Our goal is to join the other award-winning Edmonton breweries in showing we can build a brewing mecca in Alberta.
The brewpub is located in the Ritchie neighborhood in Edmonton. Ritchie is a diverse and progressive neighborhood south of the river, and nearby the Whyte Ave entertainment district. We’re also one block away from the Mill Creek Ravine, where we can jump on our bikes for an awesome ride through the 250km of trails right in the middle of our city.
The barrel house is five blocks away; easy walking, skateboarding or riding distance from the main brewery. It’s even closer to Whyte Ave in a quickly developing mixed industrial area.
The Blind Enthusiasm Craft Brewery exists because of our deep love of beer. We’re enthusiastically proving our point by building a showpiece brewery from the ground up to be our temple of brewing. We’re also building an offsite (but nearby) barrel house to host one of Canada’s largest barrel and sour beer programs.
Focused on the long term, Blind Enthusiasm is all about quality and exploration. We will take our time to make great beer, the right way, and anything that doesn’t match our exacting standards will never see the light of day.
We started construction in Fall 2015 and our building is now rising from the ground. The Ritchie Market will host some amazing businesses: a brewpub, an artisanal butcher, an internationally-renowned coffee roaster and a bike shop, all in a shared space.
Great things takes time, and we're striving to be done at the beginning of 2017. We will open once we've had time to make tasty, consistent beer that our customers will adore.
At the Blind Enthusiasm Brewing Company we have great passion and reverence for beer, and we will be going to great lengths to make exceptional beer that our customers will cherish. Some people say they'll make great beer; some will follow through with this promise, while others will not. We're committed to doing something special every time we brew.
Blind Enthusiasm has two brand new custom-built facilities in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada: a brewpub and a barrel house. The brewpub has a 10hl BrauKon system, plenty of fermentation space, a 750 square foot barrel room, and a restaurant that scales between 60 and 120 seats, depending on the season. The barrel house is an 18,000 square foot facility with a 20hl brewhouse, four individually climate-controlled barrel rooms, and a uniquely designed coolship based on a combination of our research in Belgium, and a specially commissioned engineering study. We are devoting significant resources to building very special places to make our beer.
To consistently make great beer at any scale we'll need a great team. Our foundation is built (see team bios), but we're looking for a few more key members to join the team:
